Well, would ya look at that. It's the end of 2008. What a fabulous year it's been, and the outlook for 2009 is just as exciting. To all of you out there, have a fab New Year and all the best for the next 365 days. May you prosper and be safe! Cheers.
This is Summer!!! Enough said.
Well, who would have thought. After 20 overs each, the two teams would both end with 155 runs. That was the initial outcome of the 20/20 clash between New Zealand and the West Indies. WI should have taken it out, but NZ bought the batting assault under control to finish even. With a period of bewilderment within the sold out crowd, the deciding ruling became clear. One over each, two wickets, one bowler from each team. WI's Gayle made mince meat out of Vettori with three sixes, giving them a daunting 25 runs from the over. NZ's Oram made a galant attempt but were finally out done with the loss of both wickets, still needing 11 runs. A great spectacle with more to come with West Indies finishing their tour, England arriving in Feb and India in March!!! You'd better love cricket.
To all in the season of festiveness and relaxation, wish you all a 'cracker' Christmas. Be safe where ever you maybe.
It never ceases to amaze me, no matter how many times I visit the Waipoua Forest, I always stand in awe of the mighty Kauri (Agathis australis) tree known as Tāne Mahuta ("Lord of the Forest"). Estimated to be over 2000 years old, the shear girth and size of this hunk of wood is no way more impressive than standing in front of him. Tāne Mahuta is the largest kauri known to stand today. It is 51 metres in height, and has a circumference of 13.8 metres. Total volume including the crown 516.7 m³.
Isn't Summer such an extraordinary time. Your senses seem to be somewhat heightened by the constant rays of light smothering the skin. The hazy, lazy days are upon us. With great people to share the warmth with, makes for sublime moments in ones life! Bravo!
It's officially official. It's set in stone. It's a done deal. Los Angeles, Las Vegas and South America beckon! The silver winged bird will be departing in just under 36 days. The excitment is building and the time is ticking!!!
After a few hours of meandering through the Waitakere Ranges, what better way to cool and satisfy the senses from the humid, warm afternoon air, than slurp up some delicious creamy ice from the local dairy. Superb!
The current high water levels reminded me of my encounter with the 'sinking' of the Lagoon Island of Venice. No where near as dramatic as now but December 2002 made the visit more interesting than usual. My thoughts are with the many shop keepers and dwellers continually barraged by the incessant salty waters.
What better way to bring in the new month and enjoy the wonderfulness that is Summer, than sharing such a fantastic time of year with someone special. I've been blessed with meeting a beautiful person, whom has swept me away into her life. There aren't any feelings or emotions that compare to these that are fueling me right now. WOOHOO!!!
